LocateMe - J2ME GPS Tracking Software

LocateMe requires a Bluetooth GPS and will show you the direction to a given GPS location (a “target”) without maps, using a pulsing direction arrow. You can request the location of other LocateMe users by text message, send your own location, or just simply save a location for directions back to it later.

OpenDMTP

The “Open Device Monitoring and Tracking Protocol“, otherwise known as OpenDMTP, is a protocol and framework that allows bi-directional data communications between servers and devices (clients) over the Internet and similar networks. OpenDMTP is particularly geared towards Location-based information (LBS) such as GPS, as well as temperature and other data collected in remote-monitoring devices. OpenDMTP is small, and is especially suited for micro-devices such as PDA’s, mobile phones, and custom OEM devices.

Mobile Trail Explorer

Mobile Trail Explorer is an application where user can view and record tracks using the mobile phone and GPS device. Recorded tracks can be exported in KML format so that they can be viewed in Google Earth application. Mobile Trail Explorer is mainly targeted for recording biking, hiking etc. trails.

Software runs on Java platform so it is supported by many mobile phones. It is required that mobile phone supports Bluetooth connections (JSR 82) for GPS and File connection (JSR 75) for exporting trails to kml files.

j4me - Java For Me

J4ME is an open source library to help build J2ME applications. It solves many of J2ME’s shortcomings including:

  • UI that is professional looking and intuitive
  • Logging, critical for debugging platform-specific problems
  • GPS through the device and external Bluetooth pucks
